True Detective was superb and it’s getting a second series… let me just check that… Oh :(

So I’ve just finished watching what has to be some of the best television I’ve seen in a long while. HBO are well known for excellence in drama and True Detective was no exception.

Superb acting, a fantastic plot-line, realistic characters and for once a genuine sense of foreboding made this 8 part mini-series a definite MUST WATCH.

The cinematography was outstanding, making fantastic use of the landscape of the deep south of the US and all without the now cliché themes of Deliverance.

Plus the plot was left open ended. What will they do now? Can they genuinely “let it go”?

So it was with some interest that I read that HBO has signed off a second season. Only they won’t be taking the well tried formula of expanding the original. Instead HBO, in a similar way the “Band of Brothers” led to “The Pacific”, so will the new series star a new set of characters.

And I’ve just read it was star Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughn. 😐

Right. Well, that’s an interesting choice.

……. At least the first season was good. That’s some comfort.
