Consumer advice: Avoid

Hello everybody, it’s been quite some time since I posted and I’m sorry it’s something so negative that’s put me back online.

But if there’s one thing I really hate it’s being ripped off online.

So you can only guess my level of annoyance when we sent an ABSOLUTELY mint BlackBerry 9800 Torch which MobilePhoneXChange gave an on-line valuation of £70.

The phone was sent on Monday the 15th of July and today we received notice that we we would be paid £46 with absolutely no explanation as to why the offer was 33% below the advised price.

A look on their website suggests that you might get less if the phone was in poor quality or the quote was over 10 days old. It was in excellent quality and we have photographs to prove it and it was just 3 days.

My favourite bit of the scam is how it’s going to cost us £10 to get the phone back. But given there are 4 OTHER phone buying companies willing to pay £70 for it, I think we WILL be taking this option.

As we wrote down the serial numbers concerned, it will be interesting to see if we get our phone back.

On another front, it’s interesting to see how much their website looks like O2s. I assume this is deliberate.
