GM Pig – Why it could be bad for health

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-12113859

BBC report today on a super GM pig that’s been genetically modified to be able to digest cheap phosphate based animal feed.

Sounds to me like somebody from the animal feed biz (Monsanto?) needs to open up a market. At present the phosphate isn’t absorbed by Mr Ham and it’s a environmental disaster when it hits streams etc.

So the new Enviropig (sic) solves that problem.

Of course, no mention of what happens to people who eat the phosphate bacon. Nor why it doesn’t make more sense to just not allow pigs to be fed heavily phosphate laced animal feed.

We are just meant to skip over that bit of logic…

At least Prof Rich Moccia is proud of his work.

Enviropig, incidentally is trademarked.
